Either Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed or there is an existing problem with it which is causing it not to function correctly. If it is already installed then try uninstalling then reinstalling it. If it isn’t installed at all and Podium didn’t install it when it ran its setup then run dotnetfx20.exe from the Podium CD.

Applies to build(s): 1.0.1.1195, 1.1.0.1383, 1.1.1.1428, 1.2.0.1502
This is a problem which has been identified with the tests not responding correctly and is not usually an indication that there is a problem with FTP or HTTP. If any of these tests report a timeout then try publishing a podcast in Podium, which should be successful.
There are three reasons why this might occur:
1. The FTP address is incorrect
If you are using RM Lightbox hosting then check that the FTP address is ftp.podiumpodcasting.com
2. FTP access is blocked over your network or Internet connection
You may need to speak to your network administrator about FTP access and supply them with the details below (RM Lightbox hosting) in order for them to enable Podium to connect to our server.
Server address: ftp.podiumpodcasting.com
FTP mode: Passive
Ports: 21 (control connection), random between 5001-65535 (data connection)
Alternatively you can upgrade to build 1.2.0.1502 of Podium here and switch to HTTP upload instead of FTP. This is only possible with RM Lightbox hosting and the details you require are, apart from the address the same as your FTP details. The HTTP address needs to be http://www.podiumpodcasting.com/http/podcastmanagement.asmx
3. The FTP server is incorrectly configured (non RM Lightbox hosting)
Please refer to the documentation of your FTP server in order to correctly configure it.
This issue can occur when there is no write permission on the directory you are using to store your podcasts. Please consult the documentation of your FTP server in order to correctly configure the appropriate folder to have write access. Depending on the FTP server you are using you may need to set the write permission on the folder directly, via the Operating System and not in the FTP server settings.

It’s likely that it is failing before the FTP process and that it cannot export the MP3 that is to be uploaded. To make sure try exporting the audio via the export button on the sound toolbar, if that fails with ‘An unknown error has occured!’ or ‘A required registry key was not found’ then follow the instructions below.
Please download and run the appropriate reg file below, for your version of Windows.

Either the Ogg Codecs which Podium utilises are not installed or they are installed but are not functioning correctly. Check in Add/Remove programs to see if 'oggcodecs 0.73.1936' is listed. If they are installed then uninstall them, then browse onto the root of the Podium CD and run oggcodecs_0.73.1936.exe to install them again. If they are not installed in the first place then install them in the same way as previously described.
This is probably due to the fact that the recording volume is very low:
If you are using a USB microphone then browse to Sounds & Audio Devices in Control Panel and select the Audio Tab. Ensure that the microphone is selected in the default device for recording dropdown, click the Volume button and ensure that the volume is at 100%, then try again.
If you are using a microphone that plugs into the sound card then browse to Sounds & Audio Devices in Control Panel and select the Audio Tab. Ensure that the sound card is selected in the default device for recording, click the volume button, make sure that the appropriate option is selected (Microphone, Line in etc) and ensure that the volume is at 100%, then try again.
If you are still unable to hear recorded audio then try and record from the Windows sound recorder from Accessories >> Entertainment >> Sound Recorder. If this fails then it’s likely that either your microphone has its own volume control and its set to a low volume level or your sound card does not support audio recording.
| Project Files |
You didn’t save the project file after you published the podcast, so even though the podcast was uploaded the project file didn't save it's publish status. The rule is that whenever you publish an episode you must save the project, particularly after publishing the first episode of a new podcast to avoid Podium giving you a new RSS feed the next time you publish, but you should save any time after you publish.
Applies to build(s): 1.1.0.1383
This issue will only occur under a specific circumstance, please upgrade to build 1.2.0.1502 here to prevent this issue from occuring again. Please note that you require your existing version of Podium to be installed before applying the upgrade.
Any existing project files that deliver this error are unfortunately unrecoverable.

Please upgrade to build 1.2.0.1502 here to prevent this issue from occuring again. Please note that you require your existing version of Podium to be installed before applying the upgrade.
The audio that has disappeared from the project file cannot unfortunately be recovered.
| RSS Feed |
To be able to view RSS feeds you will require Internet Explorer 7 as this is the only version that contains an RSS reader. Our RSS feeds will not work with Internet Explorer 6 or below as those versions do not contain an RSS reader.
You need to ensure that the web address is correct in Podium Options. If you are using RM Lightbox hosting and you are using the details printed the licence card or welcome email then you should not have this problem.
If you are using RM Lightbox hosting and have created your own podcast folder then the web address needs updating to look in that folder for the podcasts and their RSS feeds. So if you created a podcast folder called /podcasts/ then you need to add podcasts/ onto the end of the web address so that it becomes http://www.podiumpodcasting.com/~username/podcasts/.
If you are not using RM Lightbox hosting then it’s up to you to enter the correct web address that will link directly to your podcast directory on the server.
Once you have made the necessary changes you can simply re publish any existing podcasts and it will correct the RSS feed, if you then copy that feed into your aggregator it should retrieve the podcast.
